Job Description:
Minimum Requirements
- Associate's degree, or vocational or technical school degree in
Construction Management, Business Administration, or related
field.
- In lieu of an Associate's Degree or Technical School Degree, a
High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of track maintenance,
repairs, or inspection experience on Class 1, Commuter Railroad or
an electrified rail transit system may be considered.Experience
- Three (3) years of track maintenance, repairs, or inspection on
Class 1, Commuter Railroad or an electrified rail transit
system.Certification/Licensure
- Must comply with WMATA license policy for operation of WMATA
non-revenue vehicles. Must maintain license as a condition of
continued employment.Preferred
- N/AMedical GroupAbility to satisfactorily complete the medical
examination for this position. The incumbent must be able to
perform the essential functions of this position either with or
without reasonable accommodations.
- In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit
Authority's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), this job has been
identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents
in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in
the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due
to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies
or related events.Job SummaryThis position is responsible for
supervising track crews in the maintenance and construction of the
Authority's track and way system.Essential Functions
- Plans, performs and oversees maintenance activities of track
construction and assembly, replacement of rails, special track work
parts, ties, direct fixation fasteners, rail joints, cleaning of
roadbed, track lining/surfacing operations, welding, etc. to WMATA
standards.
- Creates and maintains records and reports of work deficiencies
and the procurement and management of materials; authenticates and
validates daily time reports of employees.
- Ensures safety requirements and WMATA rules and regulations are
followed while performing maintenance and construction activities.
Serves as the Roadway Worker in Charge (RWIC) to provide a safe
Roadway work environment for crews and/or contractors.
- Ensures maintenance equipment is maintained and sent for
Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) as required. Ensures all
material and equipment are identified, assembled, and accessible
prior to implementation of maintenance work. Makes certain suitable
as well as appropriate inspection equipment is available and
obtainable, utilized correctly guaranteeing proper maintenance is
completed.Other Functions
- Ensures track maintenance personnel are trained and qualified
in the appropriate use and operation of all track inspection and
repair equipment; provides on-the-job training to subordinate
personnel.
- Operates WMATA non-revenue vehicles.The essential duties listed
