environment.About this positionThis consultancy aims to provide
essential support to the Energy Division (ENE) in advancing
initiatives related to clean hydrogen within the Latin America and
Caribbean (LAC) region. The consultant will play a key role in the
preparation, design, and approval processes of operations,
including loans, policy-based loans, investment grants, and
Technical Cooperations (TCs) focused on (i) clean hydrogen and its
derivates clean ammonia and clean methanol and (ii) decarbonization
initiatives using clean hydrogen and derivates projects.
Responsibilities will include conducting research, procuring and
supervising studies, gathering and analyzing data, and drafting
documents crucial for the development and execution of clean
hydrogen projects and their value chainWhat you'll do
- Collaborate with the Energy Division (ENE) team to identify,
design, and facilitate financing opportunities for clean hydrogen
and derivates clean ammonia and methanol projects in the Latin
America and Caribbean (LAC) region.
- Support the preparation and evaluation of clean hydrogen
projects, industrial and transportation decarbonization initiatives
using clean hydrogen and derivates in their entire value chain,
including conducting research, analyzing technical, financial, and
regulatory aspects, and assessing climate impact.
- Assist in the identification and evaluation of financing
requests for clean hydrogen projects, considering bank policies,
country conditions, and available financing mechanisms.
- Contribute to the execution and supervision of clean hydrogen
projects and activities in the LAC region, including the support in
the preparation of procurement documents, evaluation of proposal
and reviewing reports prepared by consulting firms in the field of
clean hydrogen,
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative
technical proposals tailored to the needs of national governments,
focusing on the integration of clean hydrogen technologies.
- Provide technical support to sector specialists in the
execution and implementation of clean hydrogen-related technical
cooperations.
- Assist in organizing conferences, workshops and training
sessions on clean hydrogen for officials of member countries and
specialists of the IDB.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with
environmental and processing policies in clean hydrogen projects,
and assist in monitoring and evaluating project results and
outcomes.What you'll need
- Education: Master -s degree or equivalent in economics,
renewable energy, chemical, mechanical or industrial engineering,
or related fields.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience with the development
and implementation of projects related to the energy sector.
Experience within the IDB or other international institutions or in
the clean hydrogen sector is desirable.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank
official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is
required.Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member
countries.
- Consanguinity : You have no family members (up to the fourth
degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including
spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.Type of contract
and duration
- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: The contract will be for an initial
duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension for up to
36 months, contingent upon performance.
