future together!Our Web-MiddleTier Team consists of three
engineering components managing over 20 services supporting the Web
UI layer, REST API layer, application business logic and data plane
orchestration software. Skytap is looking for a seasoned and highly
skilled Software Engineering Architect who will report to the
Director of Engineering and work on a variety of engineering
projects across the Web-MiddleTier space.Your Responsibilities:Your
work in this role will cover a variety of technical domains and
crucial business problems, and you will be hands-on working on
things like:
- Jump in and do technical deep dives, debugging, or performance
instrumentation and analysis for hard problems that may arise on
any of the three component teams, sometimes solo and other times
working with other engineers.
- Lead projects that introduce significant architectural changes
spanning the entire application stack from the Web UI, through the
business and orchestration layers to our Data Plane services. This
includes both individual technical work as well as working on a
tiger-team with other engineers.
- Work with the Director of Engineering and Principal Engineers
to identify and drive the architecture roadmap of the components
and services, and prioritize and implement strategic initiatives
that benefit the teams. This might involve foundational work to
improve reliability, upgradability, observability, application
throughput and performance, security, better SDE practices and
tooling, and more.In this role, you'll have a lot of autonomy to
identify and solve important problems. Skytap, a Kyndryl Company,

problems to solve, and likewise there's plenty of opportunity for
you to make a noticeable impact within the Engineering team and on
the overall business.Your Qualifications:
- Deep Linux systems experience and understanding.
- Highly skilled in several programming languages and
technologies such as C/C++, Java, Ruby on Rails, Python, node.js
and React.
- Expert understanding of distributed software systems and
problems.
- Solid understanding of MySQL and message broker software such
as RabbitMQ.
- Being able to implement short term fixes at the same time as
eyeing and plan for longer term solutions.
- Has an outstanding ability to quickly gain understanding of how
unfamiliar software applications and systems work.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and debugging complex
systems and applications.
- Experience with designing Web API applications on Ruby on
Rails.
- Experience running a production service with high uptime
requirements.The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is
$134,000 to $190,000 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual
compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related
skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will
be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be
below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage
