you about our opportunity for Area AR Staff Accountant for two of
our groundbreaking hotels located in Washington DC. The Area AR
Staff Accountant will report to the Area Director of
Finance.Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounts receivable operations for the
hotels.
- Ensure all guest payments, deposits, and charges are accurately
processed and recorded.
- Reconcile guest folios and ensure proper invoicing for
individual and group accounts.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding balances for corporate and
travel agent accounts.
- Coordinate with the front desk, sales, and reservations
departments to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Prepare and send out monthly statements to clients, ensuring
all charges are correct.
- Assist in collecting overdue payments and maintaining good
relationships with clients while adhering to Viceroy Hotel Group
policies.
- Maintain accurate records of payments received, adjustments,
and refunds.
- Process credit card payments and ensure the secure handling of
sensitive financial data.
- Assist in preparing financial reports related to accounts
receivable and aging balances.
- Ensure compliance with hotel financial policies and
procedures.
- Assist with month-end closing, including accruals and journal
entries.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as
assigned.
- Utilize accounting software to process transactions and
generate reports.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and accounting
standards.Qualifications
- College courses in an associated or related field and/or
related experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Minimum one to two years of accounting experience and/or
education/training, or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
- Must be self-directed and motivated and demonstrate exceptional
customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with an
extraordinary eye for detail.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work
effectively within fixed deadlines.
- Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office (Intermediate
Excel and Basic Word).
- Accounts Receivable and Payroll experience is preferred.
- Hotel PMS Opera is preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required, especially during
the last and first few days of the month.
- Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to
lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Always maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all
employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and
service-oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and
clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees
professionally, attentively, friendly, courteously, and
service-oriented.
- Attend all hotel-required meetings and training.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Viceroy Hotels
Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to
the hotel's needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and
grooming.
- Comply with Viceroy Hotels Standards and regulations to
encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas,
and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must effectively handle problems, including anticipating,
preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
- Must understand complex information, data, etc., from various
sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must show initiative, including anticipating guests or
operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
