Job Location: Washington, DC.The Senior Architect will have essential multi-discipline team representation and be self-motivated, well organized, and customer focused. This position will be working with our Federal group as an owner's representative on exciting projects.General responsibilities include:

• Act as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for construction projects.
• Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements. Provide recommendations based on observations.
• Prepare stacking plans to accommodate functionality and adjacency requirements.
• Prepare blocking plans, schematic or conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD. Ensure drawings comply with Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides, and Construction Standards.
• Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.
• Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post-occupancy. Includes building and maintaining relationships with end users, local team, subject matter experts, etc.
• Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing and answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports, walking the site and verifying accuracy and compliance of construction with drawings and POR requirements, participating in creation and closeout of punch-list, and more.
• Maintain knowledge on recent versions of the International Building Code and Commentary (IBC), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and all pertinent federal accessibility standards.
• Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers, and federal agency clients.We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery.   • An active Secret Security Clearance is a requirement for this position; Top Secret is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from NAAB accredited college or university.
  • Architectural license is preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of related experience and/or training in architecture, construction, engineering, design, facilities management, real estate management, etc; 20 years is preferable.
  • PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using distinctive style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Proficient in most current version of AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
  • Relevant experience in architectural aspects of design and construction phase.
  • Must have a current knowledge of and relevant experience in workspace design, especially as it relates to the health and welfare of building occupants.
  • Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, organizational policies, and business practices to achieve general results.
