Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering or strongly related field of study, minimum of 9-10 years' experience required

OR Master's Degree (undergraduate and/or graduate field of study Electrical Engineering or strongly related field of study), minimum of 6-8 years' experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to lead, learn, and work in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision.
Involved in facility infrastructure planning, design and construction projects and responsible for multiple site/building electrical systems that may include power distribution, lighting, mechanical systems, access control systems/intrusion detection systems, fire alarm/life safety systems/building automation systems, emergency and standby power supply in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
Support client facilities organization providing scientific, technical and programmatic support services
Review the electrical distribution systems design, specifications, and cost estimate prepared by Architecture Engineering firm for technical adequacy and to comply with NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 101 (Life safety code), NFPA 110 (Standard for emergency and standby power system), and Unified Facilities Criteria.
Prepare electrical engineering design drawings for commercial and industrial construction projects. This includes medium voltage and low voltage electrical distribution systems, lighting, generators, UPS, and telecommunications systems. Design shall be in accordance with National Electrical Code, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
Assist contracting officer's representative to identify deficiencies requiring correction and recommend acceptance of complete work.
Conduct field investigation to verify existing conditions and apply to design for renovation projects.
Proficient Computer and Software Skills. Knowledge of Windows, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD (2015 edition minimum).
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changes and willingness to be flexible.
Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and electrical equipment standards is required.
Conversant in engineering, architectural, and construction principles.
Experience with construction and design on electrical systems for facilities in the United States required (i.e. laboratories, exam rooms, clinics).
Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) systems experience preferred.
Perform electrical engineering calculations which include load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, voltage drop, demand loads, lighting, ASHRAE 90.1 and energy density calculations.
Review preliminary construction documents for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations.
Serve as the Facilities Department's technical consultant concerning electrical aspects of energy conservation and new construction and repair projects, including investigation, criteria, design, construction, implementation and fuel utilization.
Performs construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports.
Develop the Scope of Work and Construction Cost Estimate.
Provide technical advice and assistance to the Sustainment and Asset Management Division (SAD) on technical problems encountered during operation and maintenance activities.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
Operating motor vehicles, machinery, and/or power tools.

Work Environment This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
