primary objective is to enhance the quality of life for each of our
clients by aiding them in learning, personal development, and
fostering increased independence.Job SummaryUnder the supervision
of the Program Supervisor, Complex Needs Direct Support
Professionals are responsible for providing support to program
participants with complex physical and behavioral health needs.
This role includes creating a nurturing, safe, and healthful living
environment and ensuring compliance with the Residential Service
Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities
Administration.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Interact with clients and provide informal counseling; support
clients in problem-solving challenges.
- Support daily needs including personal hygiene, food
preparation, housekeeping, shopping, monitoring health needs, and
supervision of medication.
- Assist participants with accessing community outings of their
choosing, including operating agency vehicles for
transportation.
- Complete required written and digital documentation of each
shift, including medication records, behavior tracking, incident
reports, and financial records.
- Assist with medical needs, including taking vital signs and
transferring/positioning clients.
- Operate necessary equipment such as hoyer lifts and suction
machines.
- Provide positive behavior support to clients.Training and
Compliance Requirements:
- Complete a minimum of six hours of DSHS-approved training in
trauma-informed practices and crisis prevention/intervention.
- Complete additional training within 90 days of hire, including
dual diagnosis core competency training.
- Maintain National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD)
certification within the first year of employment.Who We Are
Looking For:
- A DSP who treats participants with dignity and consideration,
promoting clients' rights.
- Knowledge of personal care, emotional support, and medical
administration practices.
- Physically able to support clients with personal care
tasks.
- Ability to motivate and provide instructional support to
clients.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use laptops or
tablets for documentation.Job Requirements:
- 1 year of experience as a DSP with more than 1,000 hours.
- 1 year of experience working with challenging behaviors and
clients with dual diagnoses.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- A valid Washington State Driver's license.
- Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state
agency.Starting Wage: $25.50/hr for all DSPs in this program.Wage
Scale: $25.50 - $31.10/hrBenefits for Full-Time Employees (30+
hours/week): Medical, Dental, Vision, 403(b) with company match,
Life Insurance, Tuition Savings Program, and Tuition Reimbursement.
Employees working 34+ hours/week are eligible for PTO
