OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONVHB has an immediate need for a
Structures Practice Lead - vertical structures to help expand our
growing structural practice based in Washington, DC. In this
position, you would lead the planning, analysis, design, and
detailing of new structures, focusing on transportation-related
structures for state agencies and transportation authorities. The
ideal candidate should possess a "can-do" attitude, excellent
verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work
independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and
fun environment. The position includes significant opportunities

VHB.Responsibilities
- Manage, develop, organize, and implement structural planning,
analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for
transportation-related building structures.
- Review plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet
scope.
- Demonstrate success in completing structural designs and
developing contract plans in conformance with accepted engineering
standards and procedures for public and private clients.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and support staff.
- Provide technical oversight and review, and coordinate with
Architecture partners.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with leading
external disciplines (i.e., architecture and MEP consultant
partners).
- Manage quality and monitor project budgets and schedules.
- Generate new business development opportunities and prepare
winning proposals.
- Lead go/no go and partnering decisions on strategic pursuits
and be an integral part of the client and contract management
process.
- Establish and track project milestones as well as quarterly
business goals.
- Involve and provide input in key personnel
decisions.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; MS preferred.
- 11-15 years' experience, 15+ years preferred, of progressively
responsible professional experience in the structural analysis and
design of structures or equivalent.
- At least 4 years' experience working on structures for state
agencies and transportation authorities.
- PE License / SE License preferred.
- Proficient in the use of structural and CADD engineering
software such as STAAD, LARSA, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and
MicroStation.
- Demonstrated success in completing structural designs and
developing contract plans in conformance with accepted engineering
standards and procedures for public and private clients.
- Past business development success and industry
relationships.
- Ability to travel as needed to client sites.Our best estimate
of the salary range for this position located in Washington, DC is
$150,000-180,000. This offer is determined based on a number of
job-related factors including internal comparators, skills,
education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity
of role responsibilities, and geographic location. In addition, VHB
