Job Description


Crown is seeking a Satellite Communications (SATCOMM) Systems Engineer. This position is part of a team of aviation professionals supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Command, Control, and Communications (C3) office which is responsible for ensuring emergency operations are maintained. If disruptions, such as national emergencies, natural disasters, or equipment malfunctions occur, the C3 office is chartered with restoring command and control communication services expeditiously. This is an Emergency Essential Position - May be Required to respond to outages on short or no notice basis; supporting disaster response requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead for the Emergency Satellite Communications Program
Plans, Engineers, Coordinates, Installs, Operates, and Maintains the SATCOMM Network
Coordinates for site access for contract personnel.
Maintains the health of the local satellite systems
Provides guidance and coordinates troubleshooting of systems in the entire network
Maintains the entire database of Satellite systems and equipment
Builds Bi-Monthly National Satellite Test Plans
Conducts Bi-Monthly National Satellite Test Plans, updates database as required
Troubleshoots returned equipment and evaluates, makes recommendations to management
Deploys to locations to fix, repair, and or replace entire systems as needed
Experience with the following Satellite Systems and devices:Hughes MSAT G2
Mitsubishi Fixed Units ST-151/251
Iridium
BGAN
iSatPhone Pro (Inmarsat)






Qualifications


Relevant Bachelor's Degree is required
15+ years of relevant experienceAn additional 8 years of relevant experience can be substituted for a degree


Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
Potentially Travel as a member of the Communications Support Team (CST)
Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance with 7 weeks of accepting an offer

Travel Requirements

30% to 50%
