available.Position Overview:As a Violence Interrupter, you will
play a crucial role in preventing and reducing violence within the
community. Your primary responsibilities will include building
relationships with community members, identifying and mediating
conflicts, responding to violent incidents to prevent retaliation,
and connecting individuals with essential services. Your efforts
will contribute to creating a safer and more supportive environment
for all residents.Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships
with community members, residents, businesses, and community groups
to foster trust and open communication.
- Conflict Identification: Identify conflicts that have the
potential to escalate into violence and proactively work to resolve
them before they lead to further issues.
- Mediation: Mediate conflicts using restorative justice
techniques to promote peaceful resolutions and prevent violent
outcomes.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to incidents of violence,
such as shootings, to prevent retaliation and further conflict
within the community.
- Service Connection: Connect community members with educational
resources, job training opportunities, mental health services, and
other supportive programs to address underlying issues contributing
to violence.
- Ceasefire Negotiation: Collaborate with community members to
negotiate ceasefires and facilitate mediations aimed at reducing
ongoing conflicts.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of interventions,
mediations, and services provided to ensure program accountability
and effectiveness.Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach, conflict
resolution, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the community, with lived experience
being highly valued.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the
ability to build trust and rapport with diverse individuals.
- Training in restorative justice practices and trauma-informed
care is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and
weekends, to respond to community needs.
- Commitment to promoting peace, safety, and well-being within
