You'll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for various cases.
• Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings.
• Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current.
• Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process.
• Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed.Qualifications
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of MD (strong consideration for licensure in DC).
  • Prior experience representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediation required.
  • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with management of support staff and interpersonal skills.
  • Great legal research skill is a must.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations.
  • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants.
  • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position.
  • Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association).
