Join our team to be a part of the exciting transformation as we migrate UMD computing systems to a modern cloud-based solution. The Senior Software Engineer, Workday Integration will use Workday integration code including Studio, EIB, Reports, and BIRTs as part of the Workday Student implementation. The position is hands-on, agile, team-based development as well as providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to less experienced engineers. The Senior Software Engineer produces and reviews documentation and requirements, leads code reviews and design meetings, and participates in defining software engineering process and methodology.

Preferences:

* Experience with Workday's Integration Framework.

* Experience developing technical integrations from beginning to end.

* Experience with ETL and/or Report development platforms.

* Experience with Java.



Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Employee will need to be able to sit for long periods of time to work on a computer, as well as travel occasionally to meet with clients and customers on and off campus.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Review and produce deliverables including working application software, prototypes, and unit tests.

* Review and produce project and system documentation including specifications, technical requirements, test plans, and database schema diagrams.

* Mentor software engineers, participate in defining software engineering methods, processes, and principles, and ensure engineers adhere to established standards.

Salary Range: $136,000-$163,200

Minimum Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

* Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience supporting the operations, maintenance, and administration of information technology infrastructure.



Other:

* Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

* Strong written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to to lead presentations with small to medium sized groups.

* Able to organize and provide direction to junior staff members.

* A demonstrated commitment to customer service.

* Provides leadership and helps bridge the gap between team manager and team members on technical topics.

* Ability to effectively manage workload and delivery assignments on time.

* Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.

* Knowledge of and experience in established software engineering standards and methodologies including creation and use of use cases, UML modeling, source control, documentation, and unit, system, and integration testing.

* Knowledge of best practices in defining engineering standards, leading code reviews, and mentoring software engineers.

* Knowledge of developing custom interfaces and websites, using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

* Knowledge of various software development methodologies with experience in Java or other high level languages.

* Ability to create custom code that meets expectations.

* Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

* Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
