Job Description:

Job Summary: Provides overall leadership to the Meat team, responsible for daily operations, profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.

  • Holds ATLs, supervisors, and Team Members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Makes hiring and separation decisions in partnership with Store Leadership.
  • Responsible for monitoring and achieving sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Manages ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution to profit margin.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative and productive working relationships with departmental and store leadership.
  • Develops and maintains positive vendor relationships.
  • Maintains exceptional knowledge of relevant competitors and industry trends.
  • Ensures exceptional retail execution and fosters a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and morale.
  • Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Selects, trains, develops, and mentors Team Members to sustain a high-performance team.
  • Maintains Team Member safety and security standards.
  • Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
  • Communicates and models WFM vision and goals.
    Job Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
    • Food safety certification.
    • Certified Meat Journeyman or equivalent training.
    • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
    • Ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner.
    • Thorough product knowledge.
    • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
    • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance and managing inventory.
    • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operations-related applications.
      Experience:
      • 24+ months retail experience, including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
        Physical Requirements:
        • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
        • 6-8 hours standing or walking in an 8-hour workday.
        • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
        • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
        • Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
        • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
        • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
        • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
        • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
