Number of Vacancies: 1Area of Consideration: Open to the PublicPosition Status: Full-Time, RegularPay Plan, Series & Grade: ES0000/3Salary Range: $69,000 - $85,000Closing Date: Open Until FilledLocation: 4200 Connecticut Ave., NWBrief Description of DutiesThe Clinical Professor in the Nutrition and Dietetics Program primarily oversees the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (Future Education Model), to ensure academic quality and student success. This role involves teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, fostering engaging learning environments, and building strong preceptor partnerships to enhance practical training opportunities for students. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee curriculum development and contribute to research initiatives, ultimately aiming to elevate the program's standards and community impact.General Description Job

  • Manage the ACEND accredited graduate program (GP) including supervised experiential learning (SEL), assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of competency-based evaluation and work-readiness.
  • Serve as an advisor for capstone projects.
  • Utilize a variety of assessment techniques to ensure achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with a variety of instructional delivery systems and methods, including online learning, social media, portfolios to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise.
  • Be familiar with accreditation standards of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Work collaboratively with the Department Chair, Associate Dean for Academic Programs, other Program Director, Program faculty, other academic units, CAUSES land-grant programs as well as with District of Columbia (DC) agencies and service providers.
  • Perform student advisement, hold office hours, and perform course reviews with appropriate corrective/enhancement actions.
  • Contribute to the University's land-grant mission through outreach and engagement with students, Cooperative Extension, and key community stakeholders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Serve as Program Director of the Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics.
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate Nutrition and Dietetics courses.
    • Conduct scholarly research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals in nutrition and dietetics.
    • Coordinate supervised experiential learning (SEL) rotations for undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Engage in preceptor and student recruitment.
    • Maintain and manage affiliation agreements maintenance; rotation schedule development and maintenance; teaching and advising students.
    • Orient preceptors and faculty to the Future Education Model standards and competencies for Graduate Programs (GP).
    • Align SEL rotations with ACEND's professional competencies.
    • Assist preceptors and faculty with the evaluation of competencies.
    • Perform student advisement, hold office hours, and perform course reviews with appropriate corrective/enhancement actions.Minimum Job Requirements
      • Terminal degree (PhD/DCN).
      • Registered Nutritionist and Dietitian (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD).
      • Eligible for license in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.
      • Recency of three years clinical experience.
      • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
      • Demonstrated record of teaching, research, program planning and problem-solving skills (or equivalent experience).
      • Familiarity with or ability to become familiar with ACEND program accreditation requirements and the urban land-grant university system and its dual mission of academic excellence and community outreach.A candidate for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:
        • An earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or experience and achievements comparable to the doctorate.
        • A record of scholarship and professional growth.
        • At least five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant Professor. (Community college experience preferred). Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.A candidate for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:
          • An appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a period of time to be specified in the terms of the initial contract.
          • At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in an institution of higher education.
          • Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.
