Washington, D.C. Area.*Position Description:Based in Washington,
DC, the Director of Federal Affairs will work with Centene
associates across the company in developing and executing Federal
government affairs strategies that support Centene's business
objectives and further the company's purpose of helping people live
healthier lives.The Director will:
- Educate policymakers about the Company and positions on
relevant issues
- Advance public policy priorities through membership in trade
associations and issue coalitions
- Develop and maintain relationships with Federal elected
officials, and other key government agency officials to enhance the
health plan's role as a partner with the Federal Government and to
assist in shaping public policy initiatives
- Work with Policy Team to develop Federal legislative policies
concerning health insurance, Managed Care Organizations and
Medicare and Medicaid regulations through initiatives of Federal
legislators and staff
- Identify, evaluate and analyze the impact of the legislation
and regulatory issues for the business
- Assist in developing company positions
- Facilitate and participate on PAC related events
- Monitor legislative and regulatory activities as well as print
and media broadcastQualifications:The successful candidate should
have the following attributes:
- Excellent communications skills
- Proven track record in delivering high-quality, data-driven,
and effective written and oral communications to internal and
external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated and successful experience in driving public policy
objectives across business units or equivalent experience in
successfully working within a complex organization.
- Relationship development
- A track record of success in building relationships with a
variety of stakeholder communities (Trades, Congress and
Administration and Business)
- Commitment to excellence and alignment with Centene's mission
and values
- A commitment to excellence driven by desire to continually
improve and undertake new challengesEducation/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Health Policy, Public
Policy, or related field.
- 6+ years of combined public policy, lobbying experience.
- Previous experience with Congress, health care trade
associations including America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP),
National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and federal
and state Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations.Pay Range:
$116,100.00 - $214,700.00 per yearCentene offers a comprehensive
benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K
and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus
holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid,
field or office work schedules. Actual pay will be adjusted based
on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other
job-related factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also
