This full-time, bridge-to-career opportunity pairs emerging leaders with host organizations that range from local governments and nonprofits to for-profit businesses, where fellows lead impactful projects that drive real-world change.About the OpportunityStart Date: March 3rd, 2025Length of Fellowship: 10 monthsAs a Strategic Energy Management Associate through the Climate Corps Fellowship program, you'll apply your skills to support impactful sustainability initiatives with Alternative Energy Systems Consulting, Inc. This remote role is open to candidates within commuting distance of the Puget Sound area and involves periodic site visits and customer interactions.In this role, you will support the development and delivery of a strategic energy management curriculum to foster a culture around energy efficiency and achieve continuous energy improvement by identifying behavioral and operational opportunities for improvement at various facilities (potentially industrial, commercial, and multifamily). This includes technical and non-technical support for a variety of energy efficiency programs.This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse customers, drive meaningful outcomes in Strategic Energy Management, and collaborate with talented colleagues and clients.   • Track deliverables, milestones, and communicate status and actions to fellow team members.
  • Schedule team meetings, organize tasks/deliverables, and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
  • Provide delivery teams with logistics support such as procuring engineering equipment and coordinating site activities.
  • Gather data related to energy use in buildings through site inspections, interviews, and research to identify energy-saving opportunities including capital, operations & maintenance (O&M), and behavioral opportunities.
  • Prepare written analysis of findings, recommendations, and results of energy projects for submittal to clients.
  • Coach customers on the implementation of energy projects.
  • Support Avista's Multifamily Energy Excellence Program (MEEP).
  • Assist Operations & Maintenance (O&M) cohorts.
  • Engage in various consultant tasks for Seattle City Light's Customer Energy Solutions (CES) division.
  • Participate in Puget Sound Energy's Large Power User (LPU) Strategic Energy Management (SEM) cohort kicking off in Q3 2025.What We're Looking For
    • Basic understanding of demand-side management, supply-side management, permanent load shifting, and demand response.
    • Experience in customer service, account management, or project management.
    • A college degree is preferred but not required.
    • Coursework or related experience in environmental fields (e.g., internships, volunteer work) is preferred.
    • A demonstrated commitment to addressing racism and advancing racial equity.
    • Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the fellowship (SEI is unable to sponsor visas).
    • May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds.Nice-to-haves
      • Working knowledge of HVAC, lighting, motors, and/or other custom commercial and industrial equipment.
      • Experience delivering workshops to large groups in virtual and in-person settings.
