Project Manager II - Sickle CellHybrid/Washington, DC (3 days
per week onsite)HHS Public TrustThe Office of the Assistant
Secretary for Health is a Staff Division within the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services Office of the Secretary. OASH oversees
core public health including the Office of the Surgeon General and
the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps - as well as 10
regional health offices across the nation and numerous presidential
and secretarial advisory committees. OASH's main offices are the
Hubert H. Humphrey Building in Washington D.C. and the Tower Oaks
Building in Rockville, MD.As a Project Manager II, the candidate
shall provide subject matter expertise and operational support to
support OASH's Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) portfolio. The candidate
will work directly with OASH SCD Leads in a strong partnership with
the Chief Medical Officer and/or other designated staff within the
Office of Minority Health.The Project Manager II will provide
substantive support to advance OASH efforts:
- Review and prioritize core recommendations in the National
Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) SCD
report;
- Coordinate and convene a Federal Interagency workgroup for
addressing priority recommendations in the NASEM SCD report;
- Develop implementation strategies, short-term and long-term
workplans, and specific projects/initiatives for priority
recommendations;
- Create and coordinate subgroups, task forces, and/or other
mechanisms, as appropriate, for accelerating progress on specific
recommendations;
- Convene meetings with external SCD collaborators/partners,
including but not limited to, individuals living with SCD, SCD
advocacy organizations, industry, academia, and non-HHS
agencies;
- Assist in clearly documenting progress, milestones, and core
achievements, and reporting such findings to OASH leadership, the
Federal Interagency workgroup, and other key stakeholders;
- Draft progress reports, final reports, and other written
documents about specific projects;
- Present on key initiatives at meetings, conferences,
roundtables, and other platforms;
- Develop an overarching strategy and work plan for recruiting
rotating SCD clinicians/researchers via the Intergovernmental
Personnel Act (IPA) to support the OASH SCD portfolio;
- Develop a strategy and/or communication products to increase
SCD education and awareness in collaboration with the OASH Regional
Offices;
- Work with the OASH SCD Team to identify and resolve complex
problems;
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.Must have 10-15 years
of relevant work experience, and obtain and maintain a Public Trust
