Description
Ford is seeking a skilled and versatile Field/Project Engineer to
play a critical role in the design, commissioning, and
troubleshooting of our commercial AV systems. In this dynamic
position, you will oversee system design, technical documentation,
testing, and on-site commissioning, ensuring that all audio, video,
lighting, and control systems meet our high standards of quality
and performance. Your work will involve both office-based
engineering and hands-on field support, with opportunities for
local and international travel.
What You'll Do
System Design & Documentation:
Design audio, video, lighting, and acoustical systems aligned with
customer specifications, installation requirements, and
profitability goals.
Prepare submittal drawings and engineering data, including custom
enclosures, consoles, and installation instructions.
Document customer and vendor interactions, including dates, names,
and concise summaries.
System Testing & Commissioning:
Conduct thorough tests on sound, video, and control systems to
ensure optimal performance and functionality.
Verify connection labels, configure IP addressable devices, and
complete detailed project close-outs.
Ensure that all installed systems meet Ford's rigorous quality
standards before handover.
Field Troubleshooting & Support:
Identify and resolve technical issues on-site, ensuring minimal
downtime and maximum system reliability.
Travel to job sites both locally and internationally to support
installations, addressing system challenges with real-time
problem-solving.
Work directly with customers to understand their needs, provide
technical guidance, and ensure a smooth handover of fully
commissioned systems.
Collaboration & Communication:
Simplify and communicate technical details for customers, sales
teams, and installation technicians.
Work closely with Project Managers and Job Superintendents to
ensure seamless project execution and installation quality.
Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by collaborating
across divisions and profit centers.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Proficiency in CAD/AutoCAD for system design and technical
documentation.
Hands-on experience with commercial AV systems, including audio,
video, and control equipment.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and
resolve technical issues in the field.
Ability to travel, including overnight travel for system
installations and commissioning.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability
to convey technical concepts clearly.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, typing, and
10-key proficiency.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
experience (new graduates are welcome to apply).
Programming experience (e.g., C, C#, Crestron, Extron, AMX).
Experience designing and installing professional audio, video,
network, and lighting systems (required for senior-level
positions).
Certifications such as Biamp Tesira Forte, Q-SYS Level 1, Dante,
CTS, or similar.
Familiarity with control systems and digital signal processing
equipment, as well as a basic understanding of networking
principles.
Adaptability to fast-paced environments with meticulous attention
to detail.

Physical Requirements This position encompasses a combination of
office and field responsibilities, necessitating both physical and
mental capabilities to effectively fulfill the job requirements.
The employee should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that
may involve extended periods of sitting while operating office
equipment, as well as occasional standing, walking, reaching, and
lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Field duties may require
climbing ladders, working in various weather conditions, including
exposure to heat, cold, or environmental elements. The employee
should possess adequate manual dexterity, eyesight, and proficiency
in using standard office tools such as computers, printers, and
telephones for tasks involving reading, writing, interpreting, and
managing paperwork. Effective communication skills and the ability
to adapt to changing work settings are essential. This role may
also involve occasional travel, including overnight stays,
requiring flexibility in working hours and commitments. Safety
protocols must be followed at all times to ensure a secure work
environment.
