Job Description:
VetsEZ is seeking a remote Azure/AWS Cloud Engineer to join our
team to support the Department of Veteran Affairs. In this role you
will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing
scalable cloud infrastructure using both Microsoft Azure platforms
and Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring optimal performance,
security, and cost efficiency by leveraging automation tools.
Further responsibilities include DevOps, in automating CI/CD
pipelines and collaborating with development teams to deploy and
maintain cloud-based applications across multiple environments.The
candidate must reside within the continental
US.Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cloud architectures utilizing AWS and
Azure services like EC2, S3, RDS, Azure VMs, Blob Storage,
Kubernetes and more, considering scalability, high availability,
and disaster recovery strategies.
- Provision and manage Azure virtual machines, storage accounts,
networks, and other cloud resources using Azure portal or CLI.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment scripts using tools
like Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM),
PowerShell templates to automate provisioning and deployment of
cloud resources.
- Implement robust security measures on cloud environments,
including access control, encryption, network segmentation, and
compliance with industry regulations.
- Proactively monitor cloud systems for performance issues,
troubleshoot technical problems, and implement alerting
mechanisms.
- Integrate cloud infrastructure with continuous integration and
continuous delivery pipelines to streamline application deployments
by leveraging GitHub Actions.
- Work closely with development teams to understand application
requirements and translate them into cloud-based solutions.
- Manage software deployments and releases, ensuring minimal
downtime. Utilize containerization tools like Docker and
orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Extensive knowledge of core cloud services like compute,
storage, networking, databases, and security features within Azure
and AWS
- Excellent understanding of core Azure services like Compute
(Virtual Machines), Storage (Blob, Queue, Disk), Networking (VNETs,
NSGs), Azure Active Directory (AD), and Azure Functions. Expertise
in using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates for
infrastructure automation.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages like Python,
PowerShell, or Bash for automation and system management.
- Understanding of core cloud security principles, compliance
requirements, and best practices for securing cloud
environments.
- Solid grasp of network concepts like subnetting, routing, load
balancing, and VPNs.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
related to cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding principles related to continuous integration and
continuous deployment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the development
team.Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or any other relevant
discipline is required.
- One or more of the following certifications is mandatory
Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
(Professional), AWS Certified Advanced Networking (Specialty).
Azure certifications are preferred.
- 5+ years' experience working in a Cloud environment (Azure
and/or AWS).
- Ability to manage containerized applications on cloud platforms
(Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and methodologies (GitHub
Actions).
- Extensive knowledge of core cloud services like computing,
storage, networking, databases, and security features across both
platforms.
- Excellent understanding of core Azure services like Compute
(Virtual Machines), Storage (Blob, Queue, Disk), Networking (VNETs,
NSGs), Azure Active Directory (AD), and Azure Functions. Expertise
in using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates for
infrastructure automation.Additional Qualifications:
- Understanding of core cloud security principles, compliance
requirements, and best practices for securing cloud
environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
related to cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
