The Job:
Stanley Black & Decker is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to help the Central Engineering Team build an exceptional culture and high performing workforce. The HR Director plays a critical role in the building of engineering capabilities, cultivating talent, and fostering a respectful and supportive culture that optimizes the team. This individual will be a Business Partner and advise managers and employees on strategic and tactical HR issues. This role will provide strong HR leadership, development and strategic guidance and will require strong strategic, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to influence, motivate, and communicate effectively with individuals at every level of the organization.
As a Human Resources Director, you will be an individual contributor and be part of our Central Engineering team working as a hybrid employee. You'll get to:


  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the human resource function and performance within the Central Engineering Team.
  • Participate in the development of the organization's plans and programs as an HRBP specifically from the perspective of the impact on people.
  • Translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR operational plans to enable execution of those plans.
  • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility.
  • Develop programs to allow the organization to embrace applicants and employees of diverse identity and thought.
  • Drive our high-performance culture, ensuring that managers and employees understand and participate in the performance management and development program.
  • Develop human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps.
  • Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant companies, industries, and markets.
  • Establish credibility throughout the team to be an effective listener and problem solver.
  • Identify and drive the communication and sharing of best practices across functions.
  • Maintain knowledge of North America US HR policies, programs, laws and issues as well as global best practices.
  • Lead specific projects as determined in the annual HR operational plan.
  • This position may manage an early career role depending on rotational availability.
  • This position requires up to 25% travel within North America.
  • Be well versed in change management and demonstrate capability of managing change globally.

    The Person:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related study.
    • Master's degree preferred; or 7-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Clear understanding of the link between HR and business strategy.
    • Effective team player and collaborator across HR Function and overall company.
    • Strong Project Management skills.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of employment law and government compliance regulations.
    • Must be flexible, resourceful, and organized to work in a multi-functional role.
    • Possess a high degree of professionalism, integrity, emotional intelligence, and confidence.
