Summary:Required State candidate residence: Georgia, Kentucky,
Washington (state), and Tennessee.The mission of MSM is to improve
the health and well-being of individuals and communities, increase
the diversity of the health professional and scientific workforce,
and address primary health care through programs in education,
research, and service.This position is responsible for teaching
courses in Health Informatics as well as planning, advising
students, scholarly work, and working with the program director for
the Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) program. The
faculty will teach 6-8 classes per year, monitor student progress,
serve as student advisor, develop relationships with industry
partners to increase opportunities for students, present scholarly
work, and work with the program director and other staff for
curriculum development and other committees as outlined.Minimum
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in Healthcare, Education, or a related field
(e.g., Health Related Professions, Adult Education).
- Minimum three years of teaching experience, including one year
of experience in graduate course management.
- AHIMA credential and/or certification required. RHIA or RHIT,
or CHDA preferred.
- Experience in teaching online courses is required.
- Past experience working in Health Informatics, Health
Information Management, or Health Information Technology is
required.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with STEM pipeline and graduate education grant
writing is highly preferred.
- Experience working with programmatic accreditation is a

- Develop independent, yet collaborative, research projects in
Health Informatics and Information Management.
- Contribute to the formation, enforcement, and tracking of
policies that impact student outcomes and learning.
- Assist in the development of course content and other
curricular materials used for instruction.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director and Program
Manager as well as internal/external stakeholders to support
administrative and/or accreditation requirements.
- Assess plans, outcomes, and learning objectives to provide the
best and most relevant education to students.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with
individuals/stakeholders to maintain and further develop Online
MSHI program(s) and related combined degrees at MSM.
- Participate in administrative activities of Assessment &
Operations.Expectations for Instructional Faculty for Online
Courses:
- Manage the online course:
- Post a welcome message and introduction prior to or within the
first 24 hours of the course.
- Conduct a minimum of 8 regularly scheduled office hours per
week.
- Submit attendance by the following Monday for each week.
- Contact students and follow up with those who may be
experiencing issues around attendance or performance.
- Teach and facilitate the courses:
- Teach the assigned course in accordance with learning
objectives.
- Deliver learner-centered instruction through online delivery
mechanisms.
- Respond to all student communications within one business
day.
- Assess student learning:
- Adhere to all rubrics to assess student learning.
- Submit grades 5 business days after due date in the online
grade book.
- Research and Partnership building:
- Work with students in helping to build and submit for
conferences.
- Build relationships within the biotech space.
- Produce scholarly work in the field of biotech and/or bio
entrepreneurship.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Past experience
working in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or
Health Information Technology is required. Knowledge of principles
and practices of graduate course development, planning, and
evaluation. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
