Others Might Eat) is seeking a full-time Tax Credit Specialist to
support our Property Management department.Position Description:
The Tax Credit Specialist's primary function is to provide
expertise and guidance on tax credit programs, particularly in
relation to affordable housing. The Tax Credit Specialist will
ensure compliance with all relevant tax credit regulations and
guidelines. As a Tax Credit Specialist, you will conduct thorough
reviews of documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping and
preparation and submission of tax credit applications and
certifications. Lastly, the Tax Credit Specialist will ensure all
tax credit recertifications are completed within the required 120
days.Required: High School Diploma and 3-5 years of
experience.Preferred: Associate's Degree - LIHTC (Low-Income
Housing Tax Credit); Tax Credit Certification - If the applicant
does not possess a certification, he/she must take and pass the
exam within the first year of employment.Required
License/Certification: N/ASchedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30
pm and one (1) late day per week, from 11:00 am - 7:30 pm (40 hours
per week)Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of tax credit compliance and DCHA
- Knowledge of OneSite and Kwik Tag (electronic filing
systems)
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented
- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication
skills
- Must be familiar with housing management, Low-Income Housing
Tax Credit Program, and comply with fair housing laws
- Self-Motivated
- Assist with applications - Ensure all application documents are
complete and correct. Submit tax credit documents to Windsor and
complete the required corrections
- Send reminder notices as needed
- Must be able to calculate income and assets in compliance with
SOME and industry standards
- Complete all Tax Credit recertifications in a timely
manner
- Able to work independentlyExpected Contributions: Compliance
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to
optimize tax credit utilization
- Stay updated on changes in tax credit laws and regulations and
communicate their impact to stakeholders
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to
tax credit requirements
- Provide training and support to staff members on tax credit
processes and compliance
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for inquiries related to tax
credits and affordable housing
- Completes all tax credit move-in certifications and
recertifications in a timely manner. Sends reminder notices as
needed. Must be able to calculate the income and assets in
compliance with SOME and industry standards
- Assist with ensuring property compliance with the Federal
Low-income tax credit program
- Communicate to ensure appropriate data collection as the tax
credit is created and updated
- Adheres to SOME's compliance and deadlines for
